What Are #Hashtags & How To Use Them On Twitter!

May 19, 2015 | Posted by saini on Twitter For Business | 0 comments

Twitter Hashtags:

Basically a Hashtag is a conversation around a particular word. With Twitter it’s not about knowing how to be social, you need to be social. Talk to people who are talking about particular topics that are relevant about your brand or mission. Hashtags are keywords preceded by the harsh (#) symbol. Adding hashtags will make keywords on Twitter linkable and searchable.

For example, if you are interested in knowing what other people in the Twitter community are currently discussing on the topic “organic foods,” all you need to do is to type in the keywords organic foods in the search field on Twitter and wait to see the related search results. You will see that the keywords will appear in bold lettering but are not at all linkable.

Using the Hashtags:

Using a hashtag to conduct a search for the same keywords is very simple. All you need to do is include the hash symbol in front of the keywords, like this “#organicfoods” – (there should be no spaces between the words). The hashtag “#organicfoods” will then become a clickable link.

If you click the hashtags in tweets, you will display a live feed of every tweet that has hashtags.
